Ten Acres assault UPDATE: Woman’s condition

Medical progress on 63-year old woman who was brutally attacked on her plot in Ten Acres.

The Herald has received an update on the medical progress of the 63-year old woman who was brutally attacked on Monday 22 May.

The Herald was informed last night (1 June), by two different reliable sources, that the woman “has still not woken up” and that she is receiving extra oxygen.

In the last update, Lucas van Niekerk, who is the vice-chairperson of the Ten Acres Neighbourhood Watch and a close friend of the family, said the woman is moving her legs, arms and neck. He is the person who found her after the attack.

The woman was airlifted to hospital after she was attacked on a plot in Ten Acres. Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 5B members, EPR reaction vehicles and Hendrik van Wyk, the chairperson of Sector 5B CPF all responded to the emergency.

The woman was allegedly attacked with a pair of scissors and sustained severe head injuries. Three ambulances and a number of community members were on the scene.

No suspects have been arrested.
