Bet you thought the 2017 Randfontein Colour Run™ was just for fun.

Wrong! Capitec Bank used the Randfontein Colour Run™ to raise R26 300 to invest in a West Rand school to help improve their gardening capabilities.

Capitec is the main sponsor of the Colour Run™. They partnered with Adopt-A-School and took R10 of each ticket price to donate to a selected school in the area where the Colour Run™ was staged.

Tsakani Primary School in Krugersdorp was the lucky school to be part of Capitec’s Corporate Social Investment project. The money was used to erect a garden tunnel at the school on Friday, 19 May.

“Our wish is to provide the schools identified in each region with opportunities to enhance their education, and what better way than to provide the students of Tsakani Primary with a nutritious, sustainable solution which will improve their productivity and teach them new skills,” Sbusiso Kumalo, Capitec Head of Product Marketing said.

David Chauke, Tsakani’s principal said the school is pleased with the support. He went on to say how their current feeding scheme has come under immense pressure due to rising prices. He also said it is important for them to be receiving this kind of sustainable aid from Capitec, as it will assist them with the feeding scheme and will make it more nutritious than ever.
