Reach for a Dream fulfills CJ’s dearest wish

Company goes all out to spoil CJ, who collapsed on a slippery slide in January.

Retire Rich and Happy, a company from Roodepoort, spoiled 6-year-old Christo (CJ) Kotze from Randfontein, who has a heart problem, with a gift or two last Friday at a local Spur, following his parents’ desperate plea for help.

Frikkie van Rooyen, the General Manager, said that this day was all about CJ. When the Herald arrived, the Randfontein Fire Department took CJ, his sister and his mom, Charlene Kotze on a ride in a fire engine.

Five ladies from Retire Rich and Happy, Rachel Kgalapa, Sandria van Rooyen, Sonette Steyl, Kelsey Laubscher and Antionette van Rooyen, worked hand-in-hand with Reach for a Dream to make CJ’s dream a reality.

His parents posted the following on Facebook:

“My son CJ is 6 years with a heart problem. If he gets too excited he passes out. He was playing on a slip slide yesterday when he passed out. His heart was too tired to start beating again and he started getting blue. We performed CPR and rushed him to hospital. His heart basically stopped for about 15 min. We are on Infinity Health medical scheme and they don’t cover ICU. Little CJ must be admitted to ICU urgently where he can get the necessary treatment.

Today we are begging you to help us saving our sick child’s life. The hospital said that they will accept a R20 000 dep to put CJ in ICU. If 200 people can each donate R100 we are there. We will forever be so grateful. From heartbroken parents Charlene and Jan Kotze.”

Randfonteiners are asked to assist CJ and his family in any way possible
