Man killed when bakkie rolls

One person was killed and another injured in bakkie roll-over in Carletonville yesterday.

A man was killed and another injured when a bakkie rolled at the N12/ R501 intersection in Carletonville early on Tuesday morning (9 May).

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said, “ER24 paramedics found the bakkie standing in the left-hand lane of the road. A man was lying approximately 50 metres away while another man was walking around on the scene.

“The man lying in the road was assessed and found to have sustained fatal injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.

“The second man was assessed and found to have sustained only moderate injuries. He was treated and thereafter transported to Leslie Williams Hospital for further treatment. The man later told paramedics that a tyre of the bakkie apparently had burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.”

However, the exact cause of the incident is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene to investigate.
