Three photo hacks that’ll make you look like a pro
From chapstick on your lens to using Google Images as backdrops.
So you’ve bought a camera that’s more than just a point-and-shoot but your photos still lack a photographer’s edge.
Well the truth is, equipment isn’t everything – creativity matters. With the use of simple household items, your photography can look like a pro’s.
Plastic softbox:
Grab a white shopping bag and lock as much air into it as possible by tying it up.
Put the air-filled bag over where the camera flash is (manually lift your flash on the camera’s manual setting) and shoot.
The make-shift softbox softens the colours of the subject as well as its surroundings.
Lip balm blur:
Strategically smear Lip balm on your lens or filter (if you don’t want to dirty or scratch your lens) and shoot.
The Lip balm creates a blur effect for a more artsy-type photo.
To get rid of the Lip balm after, carefully clean it with a scratch-free lens cloth.
Macro background:
This one is perfect for businesses if you want to photograph a small product for marketing purposes.
Google a macro high-definition background on Google Images, strategically place the product in front of the background while keeping the product in focus (manual focus works best) and shoot.
