Taxi driver flees after crash in which one died
At least six people were injured and one person was killed in a crash between a taxi and vehicle over the weekend. It's said the taxi driver fled the scene.
One person died following a head-on collision between a taxi and vehicle on Zuurbekom Road on Saturday ( 6 May).
The accident took place at about 8.04pm. Allegations that the driver of the minibus taxi fled from the scene are being investigated.

Netcare 911 paramedics were informed and responded, but they found that the male driver of the vehicle had died of his injuries. Rescue crews had to use specialised equipment to free the deceased from the wreck, said Nicholas Dollman, Netcare 911 spokesperson. “Six other people sustained a variety of injuries and were transported by Netcare 911 and other ambulances to different hospitals in the area.”

Dollman also said various emergency services attended the incident, including the police.
Investigations are ongoing.
