Three injured at motocross event

ER24 called out three times to incidents at a motocross event in which three people sustained injuries.

Three people were injured while racing at a motocross event in Fochville during the weekend of 22 and 23 April, said the ER24 spokesperson.

According to Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson, “Paramedics arrived on the scene and found a 14-year-old boy had sustained a serious leg injury after he had fallen off his motorbike. Paramedics treated the boy and thereafter transported him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

A young man in his 20s, who sustained critical injuries, had to be airlifted by the ER24 medical helicopter. Photo submitted.

“At approximately 1.30pm, ER24 paramedics were called to the scene again, for a man in his 30s who had sustained critical injuries. He had apparently crashed into a rock while racing. The man was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was airlifted by the ER24 medical helicopter to the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital for urgent treatment.

“Then, for the third time, paramedics were called to the scene. Upon arrival, paramedics found that a man in his 20s had fallen off his motorbike and had sustained critical injuries. He was also treated for his injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the man was airlifted by the ER24 medical helicopter to Mediclinic Emfuleni for urgent treatment.”
