#ThrowBackThursday: Town’s ‘heartbeat’ thrown a lifeline

FIXED! A councilor called the town's industrial area its heartbeat and was worried about it stopping. Watch video here.

This #ThrowBackThursday a municipal issue that has been a thorn in the side of PR Councillor Eddie Krogh is in the process of being fixed.

Krogh has long been fighting to get roads in Aureus, which falls under ward 5 of the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM), repaired.

Since the beginning of the year, the Herald has published two articles in which Krogh pleaded for the roads to be fixed. The last article was published approximately a month ago.

Krogh argued that the state of the roads in Aureus would deter potential economic opportunities in Randfontein, which would ultimately lead to the town losing some of its big businesses.

On Saturday, 22 April a large team of municipal workers was dispatched to work on some of the large potholes in the area and Krogh was thrilled.

The repairs to the potholes coincidentally occurred after Gauteng’s Premier, David Makhura, visited the area to join hands with Busmark, a major bus manufacturer, which has big things planned for the Rand West City.
