WATCH: It’s all about the bass for wheelchair-bound musician

Remarkable! Video of man without legs plays bass guitar perfectly.

Ephraim Kock, a church bassist, has proved that you don’t need to tap your foot on the ground to keep rhythm while playing a musical instrument.

Ephraim has been dealt a harsh hand in life but one thing going in his favour is his musical talent. Even with illness, no legs and tough financial circumstances, nothing can hold Ephraim back.

His legs were amputated as a result of sugar diabetes and he is now permanently in a wheelchair. Ephraim lives in a small shack in Toekomsrus and has been on the waiting list for a house for years – without any sign of success.

He is the Toekomsrus Church of the Nazarene’s bass guitarist and he sure knows his onions when it comes to music and the strings. The senior pastor of the church, Rev Eunice Sedith described Ephraim as an extremely talented left-handed bassist. “He is a true blessing to our church,” she said.

Ephraim Kock, the Toekomsrus Church of the Nazarene’s bass guitarist has no legs and a hard life but nobody can play the bass like he can.

She explained that the church has two deaf and two other wheelchairs-bound members, and told the Herald how important it is for their church to be inclusive of people with disabilities. The church’s new premises has also been made wheelchair friendly for their members with walking disabilities.

“We are excited about ministering to more people with disabilities– people with any need, for that matter,” Rev Eunice said.
