Man, 25, stabbed to death after fight

Man walks away from fight, is followed, and stabbed to death.

A man, 25 years of age, was stabbed to death in the Tambo Section at about 11.30pm on Saturday, 1 April.

The suspected killer, 38, was arrested shortly after the stabbing, said Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson.

The two men allegedly had a physical altercation after which the younger man walked away. The older man allegedly followed him and stabbed him multiple times all over his body.

The victim was rushed to the Bekkersdal Emergency Services where he succumbed to his injuries.

“The suspect was traced and arrested by the duty officer, Captain Morris Simango and the standby detective, Sergeant Sevha Shiviti,” Lefakane said.

The suspect made a brief court appearance on Monday, 3 April and was denied bail. The Bekkersdal Police station commander, Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, commended his officers for their swift reaction.

“We will ensure that the suspect remains behind bars and that justice is served,” Nkwashu said.
