Young girls to take their place in society

RHS principal delivers motivational speech to young teen girls at prayer meeting.

Marita Henning, principal of Randfontein High School (RHS) recently gave a moving and informative motivational talk at Mohlakeng Apostolic Faith Mission Church during the Faith Girls Human Rights Day programme.

She told the girls that despite her move up as principal of one of the most powerful high schools in Gauteng and the West Rand, she also comes from humble beginnings. She added that most girls between the ages of 12 and 19 should take their place in society and life in general as women of the future.

“Anything is possible, you can not change the world but you can make a difference. As women we don’t stick together and sometimes we forget the real issues affecting us. We are divided by little things.”

Lerato Kagiso Lempe, event coordinator, who is founder of Faith Girls, said as the leader of the church and wife to Pastor John Lempe, there was a need for an intervention to be adopted by the church for girls who are mostly from various domestic and academic backgrounds and yet still face many challenges.

“We had to come up with an intervention for girls, to tell them that they are special and unique, and have a special way of dealing with challenges. Some are from within our church, but others are outsiders. We hold awareness campaigns and invite professionals to speak on various topics”.
