Winter warmer donation for Trudy’s Nest

'Our people really struggle in winter and this will help'

Facing the icy cold winter months without warm clothing is a reality for those less fortunate.

This winter, members of Trudy’s Nest won’t need to worry about the cold after receiving a donation of clothing, blankets and curtains from Silverstar Casino.

Trudy Haywood, founder of the organisation said they receive clothing from the casino once every two months and this donation is right in time for winter. The items was handed over to the organisation on Thursday, 30 March.

Trudy said having received more than just clothing, the elderly people of Trudy’s Nest will be able to make their homes warmer and sleep warmer as well, instead of just wearing warm clothing.

Trudy’s Nest received approximately 10 bags of clothing and all of their members will be supplied with clothes, blankets and curtains for the upcoming winter.

“Our people really struggle in winter and this will help. Every little bit helps. This is actually more than they expected,” Trudy said.

“I thank Silverstar for all their donations and for always helping us. It means a lot to us. The donation will be given back to our members as well as those in need in the community,” she said.
