Fourteen arrested for various crimes

Bekkersdal Police officers arrested 14 suspects for various crimes in the area.

A total of 14 suspects with ages ranging from 20 to 50 were arrested following a tracing operation.

The operation started on the evening of Wednesday, 29 March and carried on until the early hours of the morning on Thursday, 30 March.

“The officers were targeting suspects in old cases,” Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said.

The 14 suspects were arrested for:

• Robbery

• Possession of mine property

• Possession of dagga

• Malicious damage to property

• Theft

• Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm

• Assault related to domestic violence

All those arrested made their first court appearance on Friday, 31 March.
