The two, MC Prinsloo, 11, and Damian McKeith, 16, were on their way to watch MC’s eldest brother, Franco, play rugby in Naboomspruit when they were involved in an accident. They were in a car driven by Zurita, MC’s mother, and accompanied by MC’s other older brother, Morné.

Since Randfontein’s community members learned about the deaths, they have been sending the affected families messages of encouragement on Facebook.

Franco unknowingly drove past the crash in the school bus on his way to his rugby match and only learned of his brother’s death later.

Apparently, he played the match after dedicating it to his late brother. His team, the Hoërskool Riebeeckrand First Team, subsequently won by a landslide, with a score of 73–0 against Wolmaransstad.

According to Elzeri Wright, Riebeeckrand’s spokesperson, he was chosen as Man of the Match, but the win was bitter-sweet.

According to MC’s rugby coach at his former primary school, Laerskool Randfontein, he always looked up to his rugby playing older brothers and wanted to play just like them.
