750 litres of alcohol confiscated

750 litres of alcohol were confiscated and two liquor outlets closed following week-long police operation.

The West Rand Cluster Police as well as officers of the national and provincial liquor offices recently conducted a week-long liquor operation.

The operation took place across the West Rand, and included Randfontein, Westonaria, Fochville, Wedela, Khutsong and Carletonville.

In Randfontein, the officers confiscated 750 litres of alcohol, closed two liquor outlets and wrote up four substantial fines against liquor licence owners on 15 March.

“More similar operations are planned for the future. The liquor traders in the Randfontein policing area are again reminded to stay within the confines of the licence/ permit issued to them. Non-compliance will lead to prosecution,” said Captain Appel Ernst, the Randfontein Police spokesperson.
