Man ambushed and robbed at station

Watch out next time you walk around Homelake Station – a man in his 20s was recently ambushed and robbed in the vicinity.

A 27-year-old man was violently ambushed and robbed by a group of men armed with a knife and a firearm at the Homelake Station subway recently.

The incident took place at about 8.50pm on Tuesday, 14 March, said Captain Appel Ernst, the Randfontein Police spokesperson.

She said the victim had allegedly entered the subway when he was confronted by two unknown men, one of whom was armed. A third man approached from behind, with a knife in his hand.

The men surrounded him and allegedly ordered him to stand still while they searched him. The man was robbed of money and his cellphone.

The investigating officer, Constable Lucky Phekola, would appreciate any information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects. He can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
