The ninth person in the Herald’s 'Get to know a Randfonteiner 2017' project introduces himself.

Meet this week’s Randfonteiner, the ninth in the Herald’s ‘Get to know a ‘Teiner’ series for 2017 – Nzimeni Funeka.

Nzimeni is a former mine worker who left his job to follow his calling — helping the less fortunate.

He currently works for Ebuhleni Home-based Care in Mohlakeng. This organisation feeds and assists impoverished and orphaned children in the Mohlakeng area.

Nzimeni lives in Mohlakeng Extension 4 and in his free time enjoys playing soccer. “I’ve loved soccer from a very early age and even today, I still play soccer,” he said.

Nzimeni has lived in Randfontein for the past 37 years. During that time, he has only lived two places in Randfontein. Before moving to Extension 4, he lived in old Mohlakeng, in Gumenge Street.

After thinking for a long while about what his favourite thing about Randfontein is, he said he loves the community of Randfontein and how kind, jolly and friendly they are.
