Your lost ID or licence could be at the Bekkersdal police station

The Bekkersdal Police are calling on community members who have lost personal documents to visit the police station to see if their documents are among those in their possession.

There is nothing more inconvenient than losing personal documents or having them stolen during a robbery and needing to navigate everyday life without them.

The Bekkersdal Police have various lost identity documents (IDs), drivers’ licences and certificates from community members at their station.

Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, spokesperson for the Bekkersdal Police, said she suspects the documents belong to community members who have been victims of robberies and theft.

She said community members periodically bring lost documents to the police to return them to their owners. Other documents have been found by police officers while they were conducting their routine patrols.

Document list:

• One matric certificate

• Six birth certificates

• Two achievement certificates

• 28 IDs

• Five drivers’ licences

The Bekkersdal Police are urging the community to visit the Bekkersdal Community Service Centre (CSC) to look through the documents if they have recently lost theirs, or had them stolen.

Lefakane also said when personal documents are lost, community members should start their search at their nearest police station before replacing their documents as it could save them a lot of time, trouble and money.
