Two men have been arrested after participating in the ambushing and hijacking of a man in Mohlakeng. The suspects were arrested just a day after the incident, which took place on Saturday, 4 March.

He was ambushed by four perpetrators who held him up at knife-point and demanded his cellphone. Two of them then took his cellphone and his car. They sped off in a maroon VW sedan with the registration number BZ 19 HZ GP.

The Randfontein Crime Prevention reaction unit received the information about the hijacking and went back to the scene to view the video footage of the incident. Two of the hijackers were identified and the officers started tracking them down.

“They managed to arrest them in possession of the cellphone and CDs which originated from the hijacked vehicle,” Ernst said.
