Suspects rob store, use customer’s vehicle as getaway car

Customers, employees forced to lay on floor during recent Pelzvale store robbery.

Three armed men robbed a Pelzvale store while customers were inside and used one of the customer’s vehicles as a getaway car.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the 30-year-old shopkeeper and his customers were targeted at about 5.30pm on 1 March.

While the customers were in the store, three armed men entered the shop. The customers as well as the shopkeeper were forced to lay flat on the ground while the men robbed the customers as well as the shop.

One of the customers whose vehicle was parked outside found the suspects loaded the stolen goods on his Corsa utility vehicle and used it as a getaway car.

No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained in the incident. The investigating officer Sergeant Mthwako would appreciate any information regarding the incident or the suspects,” Ernst said.
