Show bicycle competition winners announced

Yay! These people who took part in a number of competitions at this year's Show have won!

Numerous winners were announced for the various competitions run at this year’s Randfontein Show.

With this year’s Show having a bicycle theme dubbed ‘Moving forward’, one of the competitions was a Mountain Bike Competition.

According to Joy Hamann of the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) they held a competition where a mountain bike was on display and 171 visitors at the show entered to stand a chance to win the fancy bike valued at R5 000. The entry was R10 and the proceeds are going towards the cause for cancer. The winner was drawn on Tuesday, 7 March and was then contacted. On the morning of Wednesday, 8 March, Jooste Henning was in seventh heaven when he received his prize.

The sponsor of the bicycle, Ahmed Patel from Gladiator Toys and Cycles was happy to be involved with the Show this year. He also sponsored the several old bicycles that were painted white and used as decor around the Show grounds.

The winners of the Show Hall Competition, in which visitors at the show had to count the number of Randfontein Show red bicycles, are:

• Ilindi Pretorius

• Anele Marais

• Dorophia Maglee

• Ontiretse Ndwane

• Colleen du Toit

Each winner will receive R1 000.

Ocean Basket Sushi Competition winners:

The Ocean Basket Sushi Competition winners received their prizes from Brendan Peyper on Saturday, 4 March. This competition was to see which learners were the closest to being a Sushi Sumarai.

High school winner:

• Zane Geldenhuys

• Runner up: Franco Venter

Primary school winner:

• Andre Elott

• Runner up: Zelri Wagener

Roving Red Bicycle Competition:

This competition was to see who spotted the concealed Randfontein Show Rowing Red bicycle:

• Marietjie Thompson – First entry received

• Frieda Reed – Forever Young Antiques

• Anne Forbes – Shell Garage

• Kobus Clark – Uncle Harry’s Roadhouse

• Brenda Lesia – Randfontein Herald Office

• Deon du Preez – Last entry received.
