Awareness campaign creates interest in CPF

At least 36 vehicles and 39 people were searched by various police units during a recent CPF awareness campaign.

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 5(A) held a successful awareness campaign in the Wheatlands area on Monday, 6 March.

Henry Boyce, CPF 5(A) chairperson, explained that the aim was to create awareness of the CPF and let the community know that all should rally against crime. At the same time, 36 vehicles and 39 people were searched by various police units.

“The team spirit displayed by the members of the various police units and the local CPF was amazing. I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to the CPF members for assisting in fighting crime, using their own time and vehicles, and also all our police members who still believe in serve and protect. We salute you. Special thanks goes to Warrant Officer Bothma, Sergeant van den Berg and Sergeant Molokomme as well as EPR personnel,” said Henry.

The following people or groups were involved in the awareness campaign:

• Nine CPF vehicles

• Two police vehicles

• Two EPR vehicles

• 11 CPF members

• Two EPR members

• Three police members

• Zaheer Gangat, chairperson of the Randfontein CPF Executive Committee
