Big guns called in to improve service delivery

Two major companies will be assisting the West Rand District Municipality to make its residents' lives easier.

The West Rand District Municipality (WRDM) is partnering with some big guns in the business world to improve service delivery.

On Monday, 6 March, the WRDM officially partnered with International Business Machines (IBM) and Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT) to start the first stage of the Corporate Services Corps (CSC) programme.

DOT will be assisting IBM in identifying CSC clients and assignments that address local socio-economic priorities to maximise community engagement and the impact of the programme.

Sub-team 2 which is responsible for creating a housing subsidy tracking system with members of the West Rand District Municipality’s mayoral committee.

DOT will mobilise its knowledge of the target country, its local communities and the decision-making dynamic thereof.

In doing so, DOT provides the foundation on which the CSC programme can use IBM’s skills and knowledge to come up with solutions in emerging markets. In this case, the emerging market is the entire West Rand.

The programme has three sub-teams which will focus on specific areas of service delivery improvement. These areas include communication within the municipality as well as with its residents, subsidy tracking (specifically housing) and Local Economic Development (LED).
