Man, 18, rapes 17-year-old at gunpoint

The victim went with the suspect and another man because she knew them both.

An 18-year-old teenager has allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl he knew at gunpoint in Bekkersdal.

The incident took place on Wednesday, 1 March at approximately 3.30pm, Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said.

It is alleged that the victim was on her way home on foot when she met two men she knew who asked her to go with them to a shack in the Mandela Section in Bekkersdal.

Upon arrival, the 18-year-old suspect pulled out a firearm and raped the victim without the use of a condom.

Through an investigation led by detective Constable Mxolisi Mlambo, the suspect was traced and apprehended just a day after the incident.

“He was charged with rape and is expected to make his court appearance in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 March,” she said.
