Police have launched a manhunt for the person who raped a 16-year-old girl in Simunye.
Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson said the rape occurred on Tuesday, 22 January at approximately 4.40pm.
Lefakane said the teenager was walking along an open veld between Simunye Extension 2 and 4 when she was grabbed from behind after passing by a group of boys and girls.
The man pulled the girl to the ground and raped her. He threatened to kill her. He later fled on foot.
“The victim was able to identify the attacker through an identikit,” Lefakane said.
Any person who may be able to shed light on the whereabouts of the suspect is requested to contact the Carletonville Family Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) on 011 753 4062.
