Seven-year-old boy drowns

Police divers were then called in to help look for the boy at the farm's dam – Athlenda Mathe, Netcare 911

A seven-year-old boy’s body was found by police divers on a farm at 1.20am on the morning of 9 February.

Athlenda Mathe, spokesperson for Netcare 911, said, ” During the early hours of this morning, Netcare 911 paramedics were called to a farm in Randfontein where a seven-year-old boy had gone missing. It is believed the boy was last seen by his parents Wednesday afternoon, at 3 pm.”

She said further that police and other authorities searched for the boy on the farm for hours. Police divers were then called in to help look for the boy at the farm’s dam.

When Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on scene, they joined the police divers in the search. Sadly, his body was retrieved at 1.20am this morning. The boy was declared dead by Netcare 911 paramedics.

Netcare 911 would like to advise all parents and child minders to be extra vigilant about their children if there are water sources nearby.
