Four people dead after T-bone accident

Unfortunately, upon arrival at hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead - Russel Meiring, ER24

Four people were killed and two others injured on the morning of 8 February, when a light motor vehicle T-boned another vehicle on the R501 near the intersection of Deelkraal Avenue and Welverdiend Road.

Russel Meiring, the ER24 spokesperson, said that ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene and found both wrecked light motor vehicles on the side of the road. Several bodies were found lying outside the two vehicles, while two other occupants were found walking around on the scene.

“Paramedics assessed the patients and found that the three men lying outside their vehicles, had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them and they were declared dead on the scene,” said Meiring.

A woman was also found lying outside her vehicle, just a few feet away from one of the deceased. Paramedics assessed the woman and found that she was in a critical condition, Meiring said.

Paramedics treated the woman and provided her with numerous advanced life support interventions. Once treated, she was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Unfortunately, upon arrival at hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

The two remaining patients on scene, a man and woman, were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. They were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Leratong Hospital for further treatment.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
