JUST IN: Bomb threat at Village Square

The Village Square Mall in the CBD was temporarily evacuated after bomb threat.

Randfontein Police have confirmed that a bomb threat was made at the Village Square Mall in the CBD on Monday 6 February.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police’s spokesperson said the Nedbank office in the mall allegedly received an anonymous call regarding a bomb at the bank.

The entire mall was temporarily evacuated and members of the K9 Unit searched the area, Ernst said.

When the Herald arrived on scene, police had already wrapped up their sweep and were in the monitoring stage of the incident.

“The situation is being monitored by the Randfontein Station Commander, West Rand Disaster Management and other role-players,” Ernst said.
