Ward committee elections around the corner

The municipal speaker invites members of the public to attend the election meetings in their respective wards.

Now that the new town, Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has been established and councillors have been elected in various wards, it is time to elect ward committees.

The elections are open to all and the Speaker of the RWCLM, Violet Nqina-Mzondeki invites members of the public in their respective wards to attend the election meetings.

The ward committee will be responsible for supporting their ward councillor and participating in ward projects to better and inform the community.

Ward election dates:

Tuesday, 7 February:

• Ward 1 – 5pm at Badirile Hall
• Ward 2 – 6pm at the ward swimming pool
• Ward 3 – 6pm at Setholele Primary School
• Ward 4 – 7pm at Randgate Boxing Club
• Ward 5 – 5pm at mayor’s parlour
• Ward 21 – 5pm at Ramosa Hall
• Ward 22 – 5pm at Sokhele
• Ward 23 – 3pm at Kloof Chapel Hall
• Ward 24 – 3pm at Ward 24 Sports Complex
• Ward 25 – 5pm at Venterspost Primary School

Wednesday, 8 February:

• Ward 6 – 6pm at Greenhills Hall (North wing)
• Ward 7 – 6pm at Hoërskool Riebeeckrand
• Ward 8 – 6pm at Toekomsrus Community Hall
• Ward 9 – 6pm at Greenhills Hall (South wing)
• Ward 10 – 6pm at Hartzstraat Primary
• Ward 26 – 5pm at Ward 5 Banquet Hall
• Ward 27 – 3pm at Ward 27 Multipurpose Hall
• Ward 28 – 4pm at Ward 28 soccer field
• Ward 29 – 4pm Holomisa Base
• Ward 30 – 4pm at Thusanand Huis

Thursday, 9 February:

• Ward 11 – 6pm at Mohlakeng Chambers
• Ward 12 – 5pm at Ward 12 soccer grounds
• Ward 13 – 4pm at Ward 13 Recreation Hall
• Ward 14 – 4pm at Ponase
• Ward 15 – 5pm at Thutolehakwe Primary School
• Ward 31 – 4pm at Mandela Base
• Ward 32 – 2pm at Kgotalang Primary School
• Ward 33 – 3pm at Ghana Park
• Ward 34 – 4pm at Tambo Base DKK40
• Ward 35 – 4pm at Tambo Base Central Venue

Friday, 10 February:

• Ward 16 – 5pm at Sedimosang Primary School
• Ward 17 – 4pm at Zama Zama Clinic
• Ward 18 – 5pm at Matlapaneng Primary School
• Ward 19 – 4pm at AB Phokompe Secondary School
• Ward 20 – 6pm at Toekomsrus Community Hall

To participate in the election, residents must be valid voters in the particular ward where they wish to elect members of the committee. Residents must further have a valid South African ID document, Smart Card or valid temporary ID. No passports and driver’s licenses will be allowed.
