RHS shows its spirit

Juniors from RHS too good for the seniors at Inter-Grade athletic event held at Greenhills Stadium.

Randfontein High School (RHS) held their Inter-Grade athletics event at the Greenhills Stadium on Friday, 20 January, and athletics and singing was the order of the day.

Each grade had the opportunity to choose a theme to dress up to and learners got very creative. The learners also had to raise their own funds for decorations and outfits.

The Grade 8s theme was ‘Crazy 8’ – the card game, the Grade 9s theme was Zootopia while the Grade 10s chose a military theme. The Grade 11s went with a Zombie Apocalypse theme.

Interestingly, the Grade 12s chose the theme Edge of Glory. It is said learners chose this theme because this year marks the 10th time that RHS will have a 100 per cent matric pass rate, which they are very confident about.

At the end of the day, the Spirit Trophy went to the Grade 9s and the Athletics Trophy to the Grade 8s – who accumulated the most points. The event was also the official try-outs with the top three athletes in each category going through to the next round.

The RHS spirit really showed – when it started raining, the learners just kept on singing.
