Burglars try to sell stolen goods back to original owner

Burglar caught trying to sell stolen goods back to their owner.

The Randfontein Police and a house-owner who was a victim of a house robbery on Wednesday two weeks ago worked together to catch one of the criminals a day later.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police’s spokesperson explained, “Officers responded to a housebreaking on Wednesday, 18 January. The suspects took the stolen goods to a pawn shop to sell them.” The irony lies in the fact that the owner of the shop is also the owner of the house they broke into, so obviously, the owner recognised his own property.

She added that the owner apprehended one of the two suspects himself . The suspect, 28, has been charged with housebreaking and being in possession of stolen goods.

He appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Monday 23 January. The outcome of the hearing is not known to the Herald at this stage.
