Man shot in the leg after argument

Man arrested for attempted murder after shooting at a Randfontein hostel.

A 28-year-old man was shot in the lower leg following an argument with various other people.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the man was shot in December at the Madala Hostel in Mohlakeng.

Ernst explained the man was involved with an argument with a few people when one of the men took out a firearm and shot the victim in the lower leg.

The victim was rushed to a local hospital where he recovered and only on Monday, 16 January did the victim report the incident to the Randfontein Police.

“[The] investigation commenced immediately and the suspect was arrested shortly after the case was opened,” Ernst said.

The suspect, a 33-year-old, already appeared in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 19 January facing a charge of attempted murder.
