Help ‘Wonder Woman’ fight poverty

Randfontein's 'Wonder Woman' on a mission to end the cycle of poverty. You can help too ...

There have been major developments in the RoleModels Foundation in which Randfontein’s ‘Wonder Woman’ is involved.

Janine Ferreira, a pageant queen also known as ‘Wonder Woman’ has been a part of the foundation for quite some time and is playing a bigger and bigger role in it as time goes by.

The non-profit organisation was started six years ago and was born out of a concern for impoverished children. The foundations’s mandate is to intervene in impoverished communities in order to create self-sustainability through education. Their aim is to treat the cause and not the symptoms of poverty.

Janine now plans to establish a RoleModels Foundation school in Randfontein. The school will specifically be for children in the early stages of development.

She is now trying to acquire land as the first step towards building the Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD). Janine seeks to partner with those who want to end the cycle of poverty in Randfontein and afford children who otherwise do not have the means an opportunity to learn.

This will, however, not be the foundation’s first school. It currently supports educare facilities in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Western Cape and other parts of Gauteng. These facilities each have approximately 200 children to whom they supply snacks, two meals a day and of course an education.
