The elderly couple, both 70, who were found brutally murdered, have been identified. Their workers found their bodies.

The couple, Hannes and Ester Kidson, who lived on a smallholding in Poortjie, Jachtfontein in Westonaria were found dead on Friday, 13 January. Ester was in a wheelchair, recuperating from an operation, said Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson on Monday (16 January).
Ernst said the possible motive for the murder was robbery.
“It is alleged by workers that today [Friday, 13 January] was their [the workers’] pay day and the possible motive was that of robbery,” she said.
Although robbery has been alleged, police are still in the dark about what was stolen from the smallholding as the investigation is still ongoing. Police are searching for more information on the matter and are urging residents who have any more information to contact the Westonaria Police.
