Commercial explosives vehicle crashes – two injured

Two injured after commercial explosives vehicle crashes.

Two people sustained minor injuries after a light motor vehicle T-boned a light delivery vehicle carrying commercial explosives on the R501 near the East Village turn-off in Carletonville on Friday over the weekend.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson said ER24 paramedics along with the fire department arrived on the scene and found a light delivery vehicle and light motor vehicle parked on the side of the road.

“Upon further inspection, paramedics found the delivery vehicle was carrying commercial explosives to a nearby site.”

Emergency services immediately evacuated the scene to a safe distance. Two patients from the vehicles were assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. They were treated and thereafter transported by provincial services to a nearby hospital.

The explosives unit from the police were dispatched to the scene to safely remove the explosives.

The R501 was closed in both directions and motorists were urged to find alternative routes to their destinations.
