A 26-year-old alleged murderer on the run has been hunted down by the Bekkersdal Police after a 24-year-old man was found dead.
According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the young man’s body was found with multiple stab wounds in the Tambo section of Bekkersdal on 2 January.
After a speedy and thorough investigation by the Bekkersdal detectives, with assistance from the community, a 26-year-old man was arrested at his hideout in Mamelodi near Pretoria in connection with the murder.
The suspect then appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court only seven days after the murder and was denied bail.
Colonel Mbangwa Nkhwashu, station commander at the Bekkersdal Police Station commended the investigators as well as the community for working together to apprehend the suspect.
