RHS 2016 matrics surprise their school

This is the first for the school, and what makes it even more special, is that all their names will be engraved on the statue.

After 10 months of commitment to studying and going through the hardships of matric, Randfontein High School (RHS) Class of 2016 has done it again – and surprised their school.

There is no magic at RHS. It simply takes the undivided devotion of all stakeholders – learners, their parents and the school – to be successful.

In 2012, the Class of 2016 made their commitment to ‘begin with the end in mind’. This maxim became the theme throughout the years and Grade Head, Jason Fisher, was determined to continue the RHS legacy.

Once again the learners smashed the examinations with outstanding results in the gateway subjects. These 2016 matrics did not just perform extremely well, they also came up with an initiative in terms of which they all committed to building a type of bell statue.

This is the first for the school and what makes it even more special is that all their names will be engraved on the statue. Sadly, one of their matrics passed away this year, and in honour of the learner, the name will appear as the first one on the statue.

Jason said this is so exciting, and that from now on, when Grade 8 learners start school, they will have to ring the bell, and as Grade 12s finish the year, they will also ring the bell.

“A quality matric is all that matters and at RHS all aspects of learning and teaching are focused on developing what has become a brand. Our learners take responsibility for their future. They hunger for quality lessons in an environment that is helpful to achieving brilliant results in academics, sport and cultural activities,” Jason said.

RHS is proud of its matric subject teachers and support teams that made these achievement possible. “Principal Marita Henning navigates a ship that places Randfontein on the map,” said Jason Fischer.
