It was glitz and glamour all the way for the Randfontein High School (RHS) class of 2016 at their matric farewell at Usambara on Friday evening, 2 December.

The Herald arrived when some learners were either waiting for their partners or taking pictures with family members or friends. There was excitement in the air as more couples arrived.

Refilwe Tlome and Chirstan Vilander.

The outfits of both the girls and boys were out of this world in what could be described as a true red carpet event. The dresses ranged from colourful to black, with backless dresses a big favourite among the girls. One girl wore a beautiful red, traditional dress and other girls went for more elegant, long, flowing dresses.

The guys, however, made sure the girls did not steal the show. They wore colourful suits and one learner even had a Scottish-theme suit. Hats were also a favourite among the guys.

Ngoako Mokwena and Keabetswe Mputle.

The girls also had creative hairstyles. Many of them had beautiful two-tone hair and up-styles. When the Herald spoke to a few of the learners, some were relaxed and others were excitedly nervous.

Angelique Adams.

The vehicles learners arrived in were also a big attraction. On arrival they enjoyed light refreshments and were then led into the beautifully decorated hall.
