Young church-goer held up for church books, laptop

Young man, 21, held up at gunpoint while on his way to church.

A 21-year-old man was the victim of an armed robbery on his way to church.

According to Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson, the incident took place one Sunday last month in Darius Mhlongo Street, Mohlakeng.

The young victim was on his way to church at approximately 7.15pm when he was confronted by a robber with a firearm. The robber held him up and fired a shot at him which hit his hand. The robber then took the victim’s laptop as well as his church books and fled on foot.

“The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment,” Ernst said.

Police are investigating the matter and are looking for any information that might assist in the investigation. The Randfontein Detectives can be contacted on 011 278 8100.
