Life Robinson wins Robinson Cup

Paramedics put on their thinking caps for the third annual Robinson Cup.

The emergency unit from the Life Robinson Private Hospital has walked away as the Robinson Cup III winners.

The Hospital’s annual Robinson Cup competition event took place on Friday, 25 November at Swartkrans Go-karts.

The theme for 2016 was The Fast and Furious with a twist. Paramedics from Netcare 911, the Gauteng Provincial Government, Quick Response Service (QRS) and Life Robinson Private Hospital’s emergency unit staff challenged each other to a number of team-building activities.

The activities were structured in the format of an amazing race: each team received a map with clues to lead them to different task points. Tasks had to be completed within a specified timespan. On completion of each task, the team was lead back to the ‘brain’ point, where they were required to answer a brain-teaser before they could receive their next clue.

A specified number of laps around the go-kart track was one of the task points. After the official activities were completed the track was open for everyone to enjoy, and even the rain could not dampen the high spirits as a number of racers showed off their driving skills. A well-deserved lunch was then served, and the victors were announced.

“The event not only provides Life Robinson Private Hospital with the opportunity to thank the paramedics for their dedication and hard work but also provides the opportunity for them to relax, have fun and network with colleagues from other services” said Dr Marinda Overbeek, the hospital manager.

Life Robinson Private Hospital has vowed to defend the title in 2017.
