Children find remains of a baby

Police say children playing at a dumping area in R'fontein recently made a gruesome discovery.

Yet another community is appalled by the gruesome discovery of a baby foetus in a dumping area on Ramaphala Street in Mohlakeng recently.

Captain Appel Ernst, Randfontein Police spokesperson confirmed that on Thursday, 24 November children playing in the area found the remains of a baby in the dumping area and alerted residents.

“Investigations on the scene revealed the foetus was already in a state of decomposition. It was taken to the government mortuary for a postmortem to be performed.”

The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Lindie Breytenbach is urgently requesting information that might assist in tracing the mother or witnesses who might be able to shed light on the incident.
