RHS Grade 12s donate their school shoes

Kind-hearted matrics from RHS donate their school shoes to the less fortunate.

Learners at Randfontein High School (RHS) were well prepared for their final matric exams and wrote their last paper on Monday, 21 November.

They knew that their preparation had to be thorough if they aim at perpetuating the 100 per cent pass rate legacy set by matrics of previous years.

Jason Fischer, Deputy Principal and Grade 12 Head said, “Hard work, serious study sessions, meetings with accountability groups and hours of personal study time were non-negotiable”.

Jason continued by saying, “In 2012 when the learners commenced their high school career at RHS, I taught them to ‘Begin with the end in mind’. This maxim has been the focus to ensure that they make RHS proud.”

As a demonstration of gratitude the chairman of the RCL, Obakeng Seageng, encouraged the matrics to donate their school shoes, which they will no longer wear.

“You will never know the hard work and commitment matric demands until you’re in the shoes of a matriculant,” said Obakeng.

Obakeng added there is always someone less fortunate than you and the little you can contribute is a way of paying it forward for your tertiary studies. Someone will be your Good Samaritan.

The Herald spoke to Jason this morning (29 November), and he is extremely excited about RHS’ donation of shoes going viral and the immense response it is receiving from across the country.
