Local band supports local music

'The idea behind this event was to form and build a relationship between rock acts and the fans'

On Friday, 18 December, a local band known as Neo Galaxy hosted an event called ‘Let’s Be Friends’ in an effort to build and strengthen the bonds between local bands and their fans.

“As the name suggests, the idea behind this event was to form and build a relationship between rock acts and the fans. Even more – its purpose was to bring people out of their homes and into live music venues to support the musicians and make friends in the areas they live in,” said Siphelele Zulu, Neo Galaxy’s lead guitarist and representative.

Even though this event was held at the Roodepoort Theatre in Roodepoort, it gave fans from all over the West Rand the opportunity to meet and discover bands from other parts of the region.

During the event, local bands such as Last Chance Seattle, Amber Light Choices, The Cosmic Strange and Burning Blue rocked the stage as fans danced to the beat of their favorite bands.

Neo Galaxy’s aim is simple: interact with the community to support local music. It is safe to say this band is taking local live music to a whole new level. As for the band itself, it is continuously growing bigger and better.

“Not too long ago, we were invited by the legendary Mike Wright, drummer of the now-retired band Zebra and Giraffe to attend a full-day workshop. It was quite an educational and eye-opening experience,” Siphelele concluded.
