Wanted armed and dangerous robber identified

Police believe the suspect is armed with a pistol.

One of three alleged suspects who robbed a man of his cigarettes and money has been identified. The victim managed to identify the man whom police deem armed and dangerous.

The suspect is a black male aged between 30 and 32. He is of average height and of medium build. No information indicates that he has any specific markings or tattoos, however, his hair has been indicated as short.

The man is said to speak English and was last seen wearing jeans and a purple jacket.

The police said he is armed with a pistol and the vehicle he was seen travelling in is a white Toyota Corolla with registration YFF210GP.

According to Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, Bekkersdal Police spokesperson, the man along with two other suspects allegedly held up a 29-year-old man in Godlo Street, Bekkersdal on 2 October at approximately 11.30am. The suspect’s two accomplices allegedly were armed with knives.

One of the knife-wielding suspects allegedly searched the victim and took an undisclosed amount of money as well as his box of cigarettes from him.

After robbing him, the men made a swift getaway in the white Toyota and have been on the run ever since.

The Bekkersdal Police are now urging anyone who has any information on the whereabouts of the suspects or have any more information on the incident to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Bernard Makgato.
