Another knitting get-together done and dusted

This Tuesday was like any other: thrilling, fulfilling and full of knitting.

Another one of the Elna Craft Shop’s traditional get-togethers bites the dust –successfully.

For the past five years, every Monday and Tuesday have been dedicated to knitting and crocheting at this local craft shop where women from all over Randfontein come together to share their passion. Although these classes are free of charge, all the end products are donated to charity.

This Tuesday was one like any other: thrilling, fulfilling and full of knitting.

This innovative get-together started out as a class presented by Lucy de Sousa, owner of the shop. After a while it became more and more informal as everyone started to share their ideas and techniques.

Lynn Kingsley, Elaine West, Lynne Nicholls and Christie Wilson plan their next product.

“I enjoy helping women stay busy, and this for a good cause,” she said.

The vibe one feels on entering the shop during one of these gatherings is absolutely astonishing and refreshing, and it’s no wonder various members of this club describe the get-togethers as fun and exciting.

I can’t wait for every Tuesday to arrive; you learn so much from other members. We’ve become like a family and we really care a lot about each other,” said Colleen Levey.
