Young woman critical after crash between car and truck

A 25-year-old woman in a critical condition following a crash between a car and a truck in Westonaria had to be airlifted to hospital.

A 25-year-old woman is in a critical condition after colliding with a truck on the N12 in Westonaria on the morning of Tuesday, 8 November.

Athlenda Mathe, the Netcare 911 spokesperson, said the incident took place at approximately 7am.

Mathe said reports from the scene indicate that the woman drove into the back of the truck; however, the exact detail surrounding the cause of the crash is unclear and will form part of a police investigation.

Netcare 911’s paramedics managed to stabilise the critically injured woman while on scene. She was later airlifted to a Level 1 trauma facility in Johannesburg for further medical care.
