SPCA receives 400kg of food

Local SPCA receives a kind donation of an estimated 400kg of cat and dog food from RE/MAX Town and Country Randfontein.

The Randfontein SPCA recently received an estimated 400kg of dog and cat food as part of RE/MAX Town and Country Randfontein’s quarterly campaign to benefit the community.

Each quarter of the year, the branch embarks on a different campaign in an effort to support and give back to the community. This quarter it was the SPCA’s turn.

“Every time someone entered our office, they saw the ‘Claws for applause’ campaign we’re running and spontaneously donated food to the cause,” said Donovan Smith, sales associate and organiser.

In total, they delivered roughly 600kg of food to various dog shelters in the Randfontein, Krugerdorp and Magaliesburg areas.

“We are very pleased and privileged to have received this fantastic donation.

We would like to thank the RE/MAX staff and the community for their support – we are truly grateful. With this, the animals will be well looked after,” said Gert Brits, volunteer animal inspector at the Randfontein SPCA.

One of RE/MAX’s previous campaigns include equipping a retirement home with food, canned fruit and washing powder among other things. With their next campaign they aim to collect toys and books for children in need.
