Alleged drunk driver gatecrashes the Herald’s premises

The extent of the driver and passenger's injuries is unknown.

An alleged drunk driver crashed into the gate pillar of the Herald premises. The incident took place at approximately 2am on Saturday, 5 November on Kenneth Road in Greenhills.

EPR Security informed Amanda van Zyl, Herald’s sales representative about the incident. At the scene Van Zyl found a white hatchback almost wrapped around the pillar. She said Quick Response Services (QRS) and ER24 responded to the accident.

A woman of an advanced age was found behind the wheel and another woman in the passenger seat. According to Van Zyl, the woman seemed intoxicated and had a physical and verbal fight with paramedics.

The cause of the accident is unknown, however, the crash site suggested that the woman was travelling west on Kenneth Road. The car then went across the pavement and onto the front yard of a home next to the Herald‘s premises, scraped through between a green barrier pole and a lamp pole before crashing into the Herald‘s gate pillar.

The extent of the woman’s injuries are unknown. She was transported to an unknown hospital by one of the emergency services on scene.
