Driver loses control, crashes into house

Man in his 20s seriously injured after crashing Opel into home.

A man was left critically injured after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a house in Rautenbach Street, Carletonville on Sunday night.

Chitra Bodasing-Harduth , the ER24 spokesperson, said, “Paramedics attended to the incident. It is understood the man, believed to be in his 20s, lost control of his vehicle, and went over a pavement and through a fence before crashing into the house”.

The spokesperson continued, saying that the house was extensively damaged. The front of the vehicle was also badly damaged, and the driver had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life by the Fire and Rescue services.

Upon assessment of the patient, paramedics found that he sustained multiple severe injuries. He was treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

Authorities were on scene for further investigations.

Bodasing-Harduth added, “Paramedics also attended to an incident involving a bakkie that had driven through a property fence and garden before coming to a halt at the fence at the back of the property. Fortunately, the driver and passenger were uninjured. This incident took place in Tugela Street.”
