Drug dealers target children in parks

Park in Greenhills in the spotlight as drug dealers are said to target children.

Natilly van der Westhuizen, spokesperson for the Sector 4 Community Policing Forum (CPF) has issued a warning to residents about the safety of the community’s children at the Palm Street Park.

Van der Westhuizen said, “This park is intended to be a playground where children can play, kick a ball and use the other facilities put there for them.”

She went on to say that unfortunately, alcohol and drugs are used in this park as well. Van der Westhuizen further said that dead dogs are dumped in the park, and all kinds of refuse is discarded there.

“When teenagers and younger children go to the park to play, they are approached by drug dealers and men who mistake them for prostitutes,” she said.

These unsavoury characters are not just operating at the Palm Street Park, but also in other parks in the community.

Sector 4 CPF invites the community to join them in protecting the children and teenagers in the community.
